Abstract

Ecotourism is a strategic alternative for utilizing local resources based on conservation and community empowerment. This study aims to identify the potential of the Salak Garden in Negeri Wakal as a tourist destination, analyze supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate sustainable management strategies. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through observation, interviews, and documentation. Results indicate that the garden's physical advantages, variety diversity, and cultural community support align with ecotourism principles. Accessibility is adequate, yet promotion, processing facilities, and marketing remain limited. The study confirms that integrating garden management, agricultural education, and promotion strengthens tourism value and local economy. The unique cultural and conservation-based approach enhances this area's potential as an ecotourism model in Central Maluku. Collaboration among government, communities, and private sectors is recommended to improve infrastructure, diversify salak-based products, and enhance community capacity to sustain ecotourism.
