Abstract

The issue of waste management in Ambon City is becoming increasingly complex in line with urban population growth and expanding activities. The uneven distribution of Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS) and inadequate facilities impact waste management effectiveness and environmental quality. This study aims to map the distribution, assess feasibility, and identify the accessibility of TPS in Baguala, Sirimau, and Nusaniwe Districts. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with primary data collected through field observations, documentation, and interviews, and spatial analysis utilizing GIS. The results indicate that TPS distribution in Baguala is more even compared to Sirimau and Nusaniwe, yet most TPS in Baguala and Sirimau do not meet environmental and health standards. This study demonstrates the significance of GIS in designing a more efficient and regionally tailored TPS distribution system. It is recommended that local government ensure equitable distribution and improve TPS quality through technological innovation and community education to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment
