Abstract

: This study aims to analyze the impact of road damage on the comfort and safety of road users in Rumberu Village. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected from 48 respondents representing four groups: transport drivers, students, the general public, and teachers. A questionnaire was employed to measure respondents' perceptions of five comfort indicators (travel effectiveness, shock intensity, travel delays, physical health, and air pollution) and four safety indicators (accidents, anxiety when passing damaged roads, vehicle stability, and traffic signs). The results indicate that road damage significantly disrupts comfort, particularly by prolonging travel time, increasing physical jolts during the journey, and causing health complaints such as fatigue and nausea. In terms of safety, the risk of accidents increases, accompanied by psychological stress when navigating damaged roads. Students and drivers were identified as the most affected groups. These findings highlight the urgent need for infrastructure intervention by local authorities to improve accessibility and transportation quality for community welfare. This study also reinforces previous research regarding the importance of adequate road infrastructure as part of sustainable development
