The work titled “Future Essential Fashion with an Edgy Style” explores sustainable fashion design by integrating functionality, aesthetics, and environmental awareness. It is rooted in textile waste issues and the negative impacts of the fast fashion industry, inspiring the future essential concept as a solution. This concept emphasizes simplicity, functionality, durability, and relevance, combined with an edgy style that represents boldness, freedom of expression, and character through asymmetric silhouettes, contrasting colors, and unconventional details. The creation process applies an upcycle design approach using patchwork from textile waste, discarded seashells processed into sequin embellishments, and batik with natural dyes derived from coffee grounds. The process includes exploration, design, realization, and presentation through a fashion show themed “Chaos in Control,” reflecting a balance between chaos and self control. The final outcome consists of three categories: Ready to Wear titled Directed Emotion, Ready to Wear Deluxe titled Overdrive Mind, and Haute Couture titled Calm After Disorder. Each presents distinct visual interpretations grounded in sustainability principles and edgy aesthetics. Through this work, the designer shows that fashion functions as emotional expression and sustainability education.
